Letter to the then U.S. Attorney General, saying Bristow has read the petition of Mrs. Mattie Wood[w]ard for the pardon of her husband and finds its statements consistent with the facts that came out in the trial. On verso of an attached leaf is a resume of the case signed by A.T. Ballard, clerk, explaining the charges against J.L. Woodward and the sentence he had been given.
